Fashion played a HUGE role in this year’s closing ceremony. We are talking an all-out, fabulous and choreographed couture show representing the best of Britain. A few of the industry’s greatest models totally owned that Olympic Stadium stage turned runway in chic, gold, couture numbers designed by Britain’s very own. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger and Stella Tennant strutted their country’s own amazing threads of Sarah Burton for Alexander Mcqueen, Erdem, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Burberry and more. The show, full of gold metallics and sequins matched with scoop necks, corsets, and a feather headdress is totally going to be our outfit inspiration for the rest of the month.
The entire ceremony was without a doubt any #FashionGirl’s Olympic dream because shortly after the spectacular couture show, was the highly anticipated 2-song combo performance by the reunited Spice Girls. It was pretty MAJOR and had us off the couch recreating the “Wannabe” music video to our absolute favorite girl group of all time (fully dressed for the occasion in our 90’s platforms and denim miniskirts). The girls also stuck to British designers for their stage looks for an all around true representation of their nation’s pop art.
The extravaganza was an over-the-top British hall of fame showcasing the country’s most pronounced talent. But above all, it surely marked Britain as a fashion competitor of the world… watch out New York, Paris and Milan, the British are coming and are fully armed in fabulousness!
